This is a compulsory module for students on the Professional Doctorate in Educational Psychology programme The aim of the module is to develop students' skills in the identification and diagnosis of learning difficulties and in the formulation of individualised Student Support Files/Education Plans for pupils with additional needs and disabilities.

The main aim of the school placement is to immerse the Trainee Educational Psychologist (TEP) in the area of Special Education Teaching (SET) provision at whole-school level so that they become fully aware of the policies and practices relating to meeting the needs of students with disabilities/additional needs in mainstream schools, including identification and assessment, the various options for delivery of additional support, interventions, the monitoring of outcomes and the need to liaise with parents, teachers and professionals, where applicable.
