Curricular information is subject to change.

During this module students will expand their reflective, creative, and pedagogical skills. They will develop their ability to contextualise lesson planning by engaging in critical analysis of the suitability of methods and resources as experienced during both “different” school placements. They will also engage in a deeper consideration of inclusion and differentiation within the mixed ability Classics classroom. It is expected that as a result of their first year written exercise and their exposure to various college based academia that the students will continue to develop a theoretical underpinning to their pedagogical practice. Methodology sessions will also continue to stimulate the students to question the purpose of Classics in the modern Irish curriculum, in both the macro and the micro.
ICT and its immersion in lesson planning and learning experiences will be a central concern of this module. Students will be facilitated to experiment with integrating ICT into their lessons and assessing its effectiveness versus, and integrated with, traditional methods. Mobile technology will also be introduced. Students will have the opportunity to explore what the latest apps can bring to Classics in the classroom.
Other expected activities may include micro-teaching, critical friend engagement/cooperative reflection, literacy and numeracy, and field study activity.
