This is a course that uses economic theory and empirical evidence to analyse current policy issues such as the economic impact of the minimum wage, migration, inequality, taxation and climate change policy.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module, students should have a good understanding of the arguments being made for and against a range of current policy issues and an understanding of how economic theory and methods can be applied to these arguments.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
In this course we engage with economic policies of current interest and importance via lectures, reading academic sources, in-class discussion, technical homework assignments, and in-class policy debates by student volunteers. Students carry out a policy assignment and essay to develop their understanding of the theory and quantitative methods.
