This module intends to provide: (i) a brief overview of the challenges faced within conventional water and wastewater treatment and (ii) an opportunity to explore some of the future technologies and solutions to address these challenges.
The module will be broadly split into themes (i.e. context, engineered treatment processes, catchment-based solutions) in which a range of technologies are discussed around topics such as low-energy treatment, resource recovery and enhanced pollutant removal. It will be delivered in an asynchronous online format during Spring 2024 with no face-to-face lectures. All content will be delivered through the VLE Brightspace except for the examination which will take place in-person.
