Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to: 1) understand the fundamental principles of soil mechanics as listed above, 2) carry out, interpret and report on related lab tests and determine the limited lateral earth pressure acting on retaining structures, and 3) be able to undertake practical seepage, slope stability and retaining wall stability calculations.
