This module is dedicated to the study of formal features of modern Chinese for an audience of advanced/ native Chinese speakers. Its goal is to develop metalinguistic awareness among users of the Chinese language. Knowledge on how the language works will be used to address challenges faced by L2 learners with Chinese language structures that have been proven challenging for English speakers. In so doing, the module equips Chinese teachers with tools to be more effective in their language practice. Hands-on practice is addressed in another module of the programme, Teaching Practice.
