Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Model steady and unsteady heat exchange systems involving conduction and /or convection.
2. Explain the origin and significance of selected dimensionless groups and apply dimensionless correlations to a variety of heat exchange configurations.
3. Specify and design simple heat exchangers
5. Apply the concepts of macroscopic mass and momentum balances to solve fluid dynamic problems involving spatial variations
6. Incorporate pumps in to piping systems and understand the interaction between the piping network and the pump characteristics
7. Model fluid flow through a range of process equipment including packed beds, fluidised beds and shell and tube heat exchangers
