This module aims to provide advanced insights into the theory, practices, processes, and current thinking in Sustainable Procurement. Procurement cannot exist in the current times, with climate chaos, environmental destruction and unimaginable inequality, without embedding Sustainability into all decisions and actions. Therefore, this module will introduce you to the key concepts in Procurement while providing guidance and advice on embedding Sustainability in all Procurement activities.

This is a skills-based module, where, like Procurement Managers, you learn by discussing key issues in Sustainable Procurement; work with other members of the class to demonstrate leadership and management skills; provide feedback to other; advise companies on the latest developments in Sustainable Procurement issues; present and communicate complex ideas to multiple stakeholders in a variety of ways; and demonstrate your foundational knowledge of Sustainable Procurement. Throughout the trimester, we will explore the latest issues in Sustainable Procurement.

You will learn all about Sustainable Procurement starting from the basics of Procurement and delving much deeper into the Sustainable Procurement knowledge you will need for a successful career in Procurement. We will explore the latest issues in Sustainable Procurement including Strategy, Strategic Sourcing, Outsourcing, Relationship Management, International Developments, Ethical Issues in Procurement and Supplier Management, Information and Disclosure in Procurement and Sustainable Procurement.

COURSE MATERIALS
TEXTBOOKS
There is no textbook for this course. We want you to be reading the latest research and theory, and as the field of Sustainable Procurement is developing so rapidly, we do not have a textbook for this module. However, if you have not done a course on Procurement, Sourcing or Purchasing before or feel more comfortable with an additional text, try any of these:

• Burt, D. N., Dobler, D. W., & Starling, S. L. (latest edition) World Class Supply Management: The Key To Supply Chain Management, McGraw− Hill. Irwin, New York, NY
• Chick, G., Handfield, R.(latest edition) The Procurement Value Proposition: The Rise of Supply Management, Kogan Page: London.
• Cousins, P., Lamming, R., Lawson, B., & Squire, B. (latest edition) Strategic Supply Management: Principles, Theories and Practice. Pearson Education.
• Monczka, R., Handfield, R., Giunipero, L., & Patterson, J.(latest edition) Purchasing and Supply Management, Cengage.
• van Weele, A. & Rozemeijer, F. (latest edition) Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Cengage.

Please note these textbooks are focused on US-North-West Eurocentric ideas and principles of procurement, sourcing and supplier management and are all written exclusively by men, so for a more nuanced, multicultural or wider view of procurement, please use a diverse range of sources.
