The module is designed to explain and evaluate the current thinking in supply chain operations. It is expected that students will gain an understanding of this field and be able to apply theories and concepts in a practical setting. This module will cover issues such as operations performance, new product development, process design and management, inventory management and service operations as well as more general topics such as sustainability, environmental concerns, and future trends in operations management.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students will be expected to be able to:
Explain the components that make up a service or product process operation.
Identify the key design decisions for each component of the process, and illustrate the application of the design principles.
Apply tools and techniques in the design and optimisation of operations systems.
Evaluate the implementation of operations management principles across a wide range of industries.
Carry out a case analysis and communicate the results effectively in both written and oral formats
