This module is designed it to provide students with a broad understanding of the issues involved in doing business across borders. Drawing on the current knowledge in the area, the module examines the main economic, political and cultural factors which characterise the global business environment. The module also discusses how and why these factors matter for organisations. The main organisational-level issues covered in this module are global strategies and structures, the process and modes of foreign expansion, the management of foreign subsidiaries, and financial, technological, and human factors in international business.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: On completion of this module you should be able to:
1. Understand and critically discuss and apply the theories and techniques discussed in this module to explain how and why the business environments of the world's countries differ and influence one another;
2. Identify and propose solutions to the practical challenges and opportunities facing organisations in the evolving global economy;
3. Identify, analyse and communicate efficiently the main contextual and managerial issues involved in doing international business;
4. Apply the module's tools and concepts to critically reflect on own workplace or study experience.

Students will attend classes for this module and have the opportunity to engage in active learning during these sessions. There will be in-class discussion and group work to analyse module concepts. Where appropriate, the module will incorporate case based learning.
