This module provides the framework for the understanding and application of urban design professional practice, and includes aspects of planning, landscape, architecture and law, together with analysis of current and emerging best practice case studies.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this Module, students will have:
• Knowledge of the evolving professional practices across urban design, planning, landscape, and architecture in Ireland and internationally
• examined the relationship between four aligned professional practices for urban design
• the skills to interface with urban design professional practice, its relationship to aligned professional practices, and to understand the legal context, various statutory bodies, the frameworks within which they operate, and their roles in the urban design process and practice.

Indicative Module Content:

Studio and Lecture based outlines and demonstrations of knowledge, methods and skills in urban design professional practice, for urban description, prescription and design in practice.
