Studying an Arts degree at UCD gives you access to a world-renowned community of more than 200 world-class academics, researchers and 29 different subject areas. This is the broadest range of arts and humanities subjects available in Ireland. For students who know and love subjects such as English, History or European Languages, world-class academics lead classes that will inspire and surprise.  For people wishing to explore new areas, subjects like History & Politics, Classics or Creative Writing show you new ways of thinking.

Across all our programmes, UCD Arts and Humanities students gain in-depth subject knowledge combined with vital skills in creativity, analysis, and communication.  We offer all students the opportunity to develop their career ambitions through a suite of employability modules and career training initiatives. We actively empower our students to find, and, own their future. Our graduates work at senior roles across diverse sectors, including, Media , Journalism, Arts  Culture, Government, Advocacy, Marketing and Business. 

UCD offers 3 ways to study for a Bachelor of Arts (BA):

  • BA Humanities is a 4-year innovative degree that offers 14 defined courses. Your learning will be empowered with unique internship, research and study abroad opportunities.
  • BA Joint Honours (BAU5) is UCD's long established 3-year degree. Students choose from a diverse portfolio of 26 different subjects with the option to add a study abroad year.
  • BA Modern Languages (BAU4) is a 4-year intensive language degree for students who wish to develop expertise in multilingual environments and cultures with a built-in study abroad year.
